For teens and young adults finding their footing

Therapy for ages 14 and up after trauma, loss, injury, anxiety, or a hard year.

Who this is for

Teens and Young Adults

We see clients 14 and up. This page is for teens and young adults dealing with trauma, an accident or sports injury, a loss, anxiety, or depression, and for the parents who are worried about them.

Young clients often say things like "I don't feel like myself anymore," or simply "I don't know." Either one is a fine place to begin.

What we work on

What clients bring to sessions

  • Trauma, including bullying, assault, or a frightening event
  • Recovery after an accident, concussion, or sports injury
  • Anxiety and panic around school, friends, or the future
  • Grief after losing a family member or friend
  • Identity, with support for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC young people

How we work with it

At a pace that feels manageable

We keep sessions conversational and practical. Teens learn DBT skills for big feelings, CBT tools for anxious thoughts, and mindfulness based practices they can use before a test or a game. When trauma is part of the picture, EMDR may be an option once trust is in place.

We think of our role as a trail guide, not someone who walks the path for you. Young people do the work, and we help them understand the terrain.

Sessions

55 Minutes, Online Sessions

Video sessions fit around school, practice, and work, and can happen from a bedroom or a parked car.

Sessions are typically scheduled once or twice weekly, with timing agreed together. Sessions are held as online sessions anywhere in Arizona, in English or Swahili.

What can shift

For many young clients, change shows up at home first: fewer shutdowns, more conversation, a return to a sport or a friend group they had pulled away from.
