Questions About Trauma Therapy
Clear information can make the first decision easier. These are practical starting points for a conversation with our team.
01
Who is the practice for?

Smiles Trauma Recovery works with clients ages 14 and up in Arizona. The practice focuses on trauma and PTSD, personal injury and traumatic brain injury, medical trauma and chronic pain, grief, and anxiety. The team includes clinicians with different roles and experience. Ask which provider is appropriate for your needs rather than assuming every provider offers every service listed on the website.
02
Where do appointments happen?
Client therapy appointments take place online across Arizona. If you travel or expect to join from another state, raise that before scheduling. The clinician must consider where you will physically be and whether they can legally and appropriately provide care there.
03
How do we choose what to work on?

You can begin with the difficulties that brought you here, including the parts you are unsure how to describe. Your clinician will explain their approach and discuss your goals with you. You do not need to choose a modality from a website before talking. Questions about pacing, telling your story, and taking breaks belong in that conversation too.
04
What about fees and insurance?
The practice's listed insurance relationships include Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage, clinician participation, and your own costs need to be checked for the actual care you arrange. Ask about fees rather than relying on an estimate from a search result. Out-of-network superbills may be available; reimbursement depends on your plan and is not guaranteed.
05
How do I start?

The first step is a free 15-minute consultation. You can ask about the team, online appointments, availability, and what happens next. Keep a first inquiry brief and leave detailed health information for a suitable clinical channel. If you decide to proceed, an appointment still needs to be confirmed by the practice.
Questions
Before You Begin
Is there a fixed number of sessions?
No fixed course is promised here. Discuss your needs, the proposed work, and how you will review it with your clinician.
Can I choose a provider?
You can express a preference and ask about availability and fit. The practice will confirm what is available.
