Your First Trauma Therapy Consultation

You can ask about therapy before deciding to begin. You do not have to fit your whole history into a first call.

What the first call is for

A consultation is a brief conversation about fit and practical next steps. You can describe the kind of support you are looking for and ask how the practice works. It is not a full therapy session or a requirement to share detailed experiences before you feel ready. Our consultation is 15 minutes and free. You can decide afterward whether to continue the conversation.

02

A few questions you might bring

Ask who you would meet with, what experience they have with your concern, and how they explain their approach. You might want to know about EMDR, online sessions, working with injury or pain, or starting after a previous therapy experience. It is also reasonable to ask what happens if you disagree, need to slow down, or do not understand something in a session.

03

Practical details are part of fit

Fees, insurance, appointment times, and privacy all affect whether care is workable. Ask about the specific clinician and plan you would use. If you need a particular language or have a concern about video appointments, mention it. Our therapy sessions are online in Arizona. Current availability should be confirmed directly.

04

Keep the first message simple

For the initial request, a brief note that you would like a consultation is enough. Avoid sending medical records, a detailed trauma history, or other sensitive information through a public website or ordinary email. Once the practice responds, you can ask which channel is appropriate for more information.

05

You are allowed to take time

You may know quickly that you want to schedule, or you may want to think about the conversation. You can ask a follow-up question or decide that another setting would suit you better. If you continue, the clinician can explain the intake process, session arrangements, and the work you will begin together. No outcome or fixed schedule is promised by a consultation.

Questions

Before You Begin

Do I need a diagnosis before reaching out?

No. You can begin by describing what you would like help understanding or managing.

Will I be booked automatically?

No. A request is not an appointment. Scheduling details are confirmed with the practice.
